Ballet classes for children & Teens
Specialised technique classes for children & teens 4-17 years.
We offer classes in classical ballet technique following the Ballet Conservatoire (Vaganova based) syllabus, repertoire, character and contemporary dance, annual examinations, solo preparation for competitions, mid-year demonstration and end of year performance.
An after school EXTENSION program 14yrs+ is available to students who wish to train seriously towards a career in dance. The program is offered on Thursday & Saturday afternoons along with their regular afterschool syllabus ballet classes and does not interfere with the importance of the students regular school hours.
Child and teen classes are capped to ensure it is possible for our expert and professionally trained teachers to give the individual attention to detail required to develop each student’s ballet technique correctly and safely.

“
“Luanne and the dedicated teaching team at Melbourne Studio of Ballet not only provide exceptional dance tuition, they also prioritise the emotional and physical development and wellbeing of young dancers in a safe, custom–built and beautifully–lit studio space.
Beyond the intricacies of developing optimal ballet technique over the last 4 years, my daughter has flourished in myriad ways under Luanne’s caring communication style and dedicated tutelage.
Peaceful, professional and purposeful...
Brava!”

Frequently asked questions
Want to know more about our ballet classes? Here are some answers to questions we get asked regularly.
What does my child need to wear for the free trial class?
Your child can wear any existing dancewear they have in their wardrobe. If they don't have any, clothing that's easy to move in is perfect.
What are the uniform requirements for enrolled students?
Each class level has a specific uniform. This uniform can be purchased from Energetiks or Bloch dancewear stores. A complete uniform list will be given to you once your child is enrolled.
Does my child need any prior dance experience
No. However, each child will be put in the appropriate class for their level of experience - so a complete beginner cannot be put into a higher level, regardless of their age.
How many classes per week should my child attend?
Students up to the age of 8 will generally attend 1 class per week. Students aged 8-11 are required attend 2 classes per week. Students 11+ years are required attend 2-3+ classes per week.
How do I enrol my child in your classes?
We recommend you attend a trial class first to get a feel for our studio and classes. Next, you will need to register yourself and your child in our portal. During the registration process, we will ask what ballet level your child is and how many classes you would like them to attend per week. We'll then be in touch to confirm which classes would be suitable and will enrol your child for you. Once enrolled, the classes will appear in your portal.
Can I enrol part-way through a term?
Absolutely! We welcome students at any time and will pro-rata their term-pass fee from the date they join.
How do I pay for classes?
Once we have enrolled your child we will generate an invoice for the term (or part of the term). This will then be emailed to you. The invoice needs to be paid within 14 days and you can pay online using a credit card or via bank transfer.
Does my child have to take part in exams?
No, but we do encourage this as it will help your child's technical and artistic development and will help them set and achieve their goals.
When are the mid-year and end-of-year performances?
Our mid-year performance is held in June. Our end-of-year performance is held in December. Details of these will be commnicated closer to the dates. We encourage all children to participate.

“Luanne is amazing with the children and challenges them to be the best they can. My daughter is in her Prep B class and she loves going each week. She has also formed friendships with some of the girls.”
